Tom Meyers said something along the lines that we are not made up of 650 individual muscles, but instead, of one muscle found in 650 unique but interrelated pockets of fascia.

The separations that we see in the anatomy books do not exist. They have been created by anatomists. Yet this view of the body is what we base much of our work on. We have a lot of theories about the human body and how it functions. The body, or parts of the body, cannot be understood in isolation from the body as a whole, or as a part of a larger context. Fascia is the fabric that helps us see the whole of the body rather than just the parts.

This CPD is an open discussion on fascial continuities in yoga or other movement practice. We will have a look at what has been found in the recent research and how to apply it to movement techniques.

 Know how to speak simply and accurately of the body structures.
 Understand what Fascia is, in different part of the body and how it works.
 Use that knowledge to guide your teaching.
 Know how to detect the fascial limitations of your students to better adapt postures and practices.
 Understand how to prepare, adapt or postpone the practice.
